Description
The Catawba, rhododendron catawbiense, are the beauty of the high Appalachian mountains. In the Smokies they are found above 3500 feet, and is a member of the Genus rhododendron. In some places they cover entire balds with their beauty. They can grow dense and become impossible to pass through. In some places they form a tunnel like canopy around a hiking trail. No matter if its by the road or deep in the forest it is a beauty to behold.
